Features of tonometry of ophthalmic diseases
|
| |
|
Glaucoma is a very artful ophthalmic disease which requires constant monitoring of intraocular tension. Till now it was impossible to measure tension at home. The Russian scientists invented portable devices - the indicator IGD-02 and tonometer TGDts-01 "PRA" - now it became possible to measure intraocular tension at home. Therefore we offer these devices for private persons.
Before the first tonometers were invented, intraocular tension (further referred as IOT) was estimated approximately by mild pressing of fingers on eyeball through the upper eyelid.
Ophthalmologic tonometry is one of the advanced methods used in ophthalmologic clinics and for diagnostic examination of patients having glaucoma and when presence of this disease is suspected.

Advantages of a new method for measuring IOT
1. IOT measurement using the tonometer or the indicator is possible in domestic conditions.
2. When measuring tension using IGD-02 "diathera" and ôGDts-01 "PRá", the device is outside of field of vision of a patient.
3. It is known, that tear can contain bacteria and viruses such, as a virus of hepatite, herpes, adenoviruses, HIV. However sterilization technology of tonometers of old type are far from perfect. During tonometry by means of the devices IGD-02 "diathera" and ôGDts-01 "PRá", direct contact with eyeball is excluded.
4. Former methods of IOT measuring, for example, corneal tonometry are counter-indicative at conjunctivitis, erosions, ulcers, edema and nebula of cornea. Corneal tonometry is impossible without a local anesthesia which causes quite often irritation of conjunctiva, short-term raise of IOT, edema and loosening of cornea epithelium and, in some cases, allergic reaction. These undesirable reactions are excluded at measuring by indicator IGD-02 "diathera" and tonometer TGDts-01 "PRA".
5. The method of measuring of intraocular tension through eyelid and the devices for method implementation are protected by Patent of Russia ? 2123798, Patent of the USA ? US 6,394,954 B1 and the Patent of Japan ?3593314.

New opportunities of ophthalmologic tonometry are discovered
* IOT measurement at small children
* Constant IOT monitoring during selection of medical substances
* IOT measurement when patients have chronic conjunctivitis, pathology of cornea, after transparent keratoplasty, keratoprosthesis, laser refractive correction of vision, high extents of ametropia, astigmatism
* Daily monitoring of ophthalmic tonus, including at night hours
* IOT measurement at contact correction, without taking off lenses
Procedure of an ophthalmotonometry became simple and safety
* Process of IOT measurement takes a few seconds
* Digital value of IOT is showed on the display
* Anesthesia and antiseptic treatment of an eye is not required
* Sterilization of working surface of the devices is not necessary
* There is no risk that infection is got into the eye and no risk of allergic reaction of the eye.
Process of IOT measuring takes a few seconds, thus the patient can be both in back-lying and sitting position. The value intraocular tension is flashed on the digital display. The special unit - pressure selector - is provided to check serviceability of devices.
Autonomous power: from power cell such as CR2032 "VARTA" or similar. There is indication of the category of power cell.
